Matheus Laranjeira has a diverse work background in the field of robotics and underwater technology. Matheus is currently working as a Robotics Engineer at iFollow, starting in October 2021. Prior to this, Matheus held the role of a Postdoctoral Researcher on Augmented Reality at IFREMER from September 2019 to February 2021. In this role, they focused on developing augmented reality functions to enhance the perception of the underwater environment using stereo vision. Matheus also worked on a ROV system that allowed real-time measurements and the display of level curves.

Before their role at IFREMER, Matheus worked as a Doctoral Researcher on Visual Servoing at the Université de Toulon from January 2016 to May 2019. Their research focused on the visual servoing of deformable objects, specifically underwater tethers. Matheus developed a control scheme to estimate and regulate the 3D shape of negatively buoyant tethers using non-linear optimization and a catenary-based control scheme.

In 2014, Matheus gained experience as a Research and Development Intern on Image Mosaicing at ECA Group. During their internship, they developed software for generating underwater image mosaics from AUV videos. Matheus used navigation data and collected images to improve trajectory uncertainty and enhance mosaic reliability.

Matheus began their career with a student internship at Airbus Defence and Space in 2013.

Overall, Matheus has accumulated expertise in robotics engineering, augmented reality, visual servoing, and underwater technology through their various roles and experiences.

Matheus Laranjeira completed their education in a chronological manner. Matheus started their academic journey in 2009 at Universidade Federal da Bahia, where they pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power and electronics systems. This course lasted until 2015.

Following that, Matheus attended ENSTA Bretagne from 2012 to 2014, where they earned a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering.

Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, Matheus enrolled at Université de Toulon from 2016 to 2019. Matheus completed their studies here, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Matheus also holds a certification in Machine Learning. Matheus acquired this certification from Stanford Online in September 2021.
