Rob Figliozzi has held several positions in the life sciences industry since 2012. From 2012 to 2016, they were a Toxicology Ph.D. Student and Research Assistant at UMES. During this time, they designed and performed experiments to test and determine the effects and mechanisms of thyroid hormone regulation of herpes infections, wrote scientific articles, and trained, mentored, and taught undergraduate, graduate, and pharmacy school students in the lab and classroom. In 2016, they became the Managing Member of Bio Research Solutions, LLC, where they managed all aspects of developing the start-up biotech company and its first product with the help of an expert panel of business and scientific advisers and partners. In 2017, they became the Director of Research & Development at IES Life Sciences, Inc., where they led the research and development of a COVID-19 Severity Risk Diagnostic Assay, while assisting with fundraising. In 2019, they founded Hempothic, where they are building a hempire and looking for industrial hemp farmers who need mobile scientific services including potency testing, live cannabinoid optimization, terpene and cannabinoid extraction.
Rob Figliozzi received their Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Salisbury University in 2011. Rob then attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Toxicology in 2020. Prior to their Bachelor's degree, Rob attended Anne Arundel Community College.
