Rui Ferreira has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and research fields. Starting in 2007, they worked as a Chemical Engineer at iBET - Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica. In 2009, they began their PhD studies, first at the Technical University of Denmark and then at ITQB-UNL. During their time at ITQB-UNL, Rui focused on research and development, specifically in the extraction of a natural polymer from cork. Rui utilized various analytical techniques and conducted experiments to contribute to scientific manuscripts. In 2012, Rui worked as a PhD Student at Universität Regensburg. In 2014, they joined Hovione, initially as a Process Engineer Trainee and later as a Process Development Scientist. Rui then advanced to become the Head of Pharmaceutical Operations and Senior Production Manager. Rui's work experience showcases their expertise in pharmaceutical operations, process development, and research.

Rui Ferreira holds a PhD degree in Engineering Sciences and Technology with a specialization in Materials Chemistry from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, which was obtained from 2009 to 2013. Rui also pursued a brief course in Tabletting technology for the pharmaceutical industry at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2015. In 2008, they completed an Entrepreneurship Training program at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Rui Ferreira obtained an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Universidade de Aveiro from 2001 to 2006. Recently, they completed an Executive Training program in the Leading for High Performance Program at Nova School of Business and Economics in 2020.
