Kim Mikes

Kim Mikes has nearly 25 years of experience in healthcare leadership and operational roles. Kim currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Hoag Orthopedic Institute since May 2021. Prior to this, they held the positions of Senior Vice President Chief Operating Officer & Chief Nursing Officer at the same institute from September 2016 to May 2021.

Before joining Hoag Orthopedic Institute, Mikes worked at Hoag Hospital from 2008 to 2016. During their tenure, they served as the Executive Nursing & Operations Director in the Women's Health Institute from October 2011 to September 2016. Kim also held the role of Director in Same Day Surgery, GI Lab & Hoag Endoscopy Center from August 2008 to October 2011.

Earlier in their career, Mikes worked at various healthcare organizations such as Baptist Memorial Health Care as a Director of Perioperative Services from June 2007 to June 2008, Semmes-Murphey Clinic as the Director of Patient Care from June 2006 to May 2007, The Spine Hospital of Louisiana at The NeuroMedical Center as the Director of Perioperative Services from July 2004 to April 2006, and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center as the Neurosurgery & Orthopedic Service Line Coordinator from June 1996 to June 2002.

Kim Mikes has a diverse education history. In 1986, they began their undergraduate studies at Montana State University-Bozeman, where they focused on psychology. Kim completed their degree in 1989. Following this, they attended Montana State University Billings from 1992 to 1993, continuing their studies in psychology and registered nursing without obtaining a degree. In 1994, Mikes enrolled at the University of Wyoming, where they earned their Bachelor's Degree in Registered Nursing and Psychology in 1996.

After working in the field for several years, they pursued further education and received a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management from UC Irvine between 2014 and 2016. Throughout their career, Mikes also obtained various certifications. In 1999, they became a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) through the Competency and Credentialing Institute, Certification Board Perioperative Nursing. Kim also obtained a Certificate for Leadership for Healthcare Transformation (CLHT) from the University of California Irvine, Executive Education Program in 2013. Additionally, they hold a LEAN Green Belt Certification, and they have completed a Basic Life Support course.
