Debra Kato

Director Of Patient Access And Informatics at Heritage Valley Health System

Debra Kato has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Debra began their career as a Registered Nurse at Ellwood City Hospital, where they were responsible for supervising the OB department and overseeing various nursing functions. During their time at the hospital, they also worked as a Nurse Analyst, analyzing procedures and data to develop solutions for Hospital Information Systems problems. Debra played a key role in the installation and implementation of the McKesson Star HIS system.

In 2000, Debra joined Heritage Valley Health System, initially serving as the Director of Clinical Informatics. In this position, they managed a team of clinical systems analysts and acted as the Clinical Project Manager for the implementation of the Allscripts Sunrise products. Debra'sresponsibilities included liaising between Patient Care Services and Clinical Technologies to ensure the development and maintenance of effective clinical information systems. Later, Debra transitioned into the role of Director of Patient Access and Informatics, where they continued to oversee the integration of technology and patient care.

Debra Kato retired in 2021, culminating their long and successful career in the healthcare industry.

Debra Kato holds a Diploma in Nursing from Jameson Memorial School of Nursing, which they obtained from 1976 to 1979. Debra then pursued their Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania from 1989 to 1994. Debra furthered their education by completing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Nursing Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh from 1999 to 2003.
