Colleen Sutkus

Program Manager, Domestic Violence at Healthcare Alternative Systems

Colleen Sutkus has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of domestic violence and social services. Colleen is currently employed as a Program Manager for Domestic Violence at Healthcare Alternative Systems, Inc. (H.A.S.). Prior to this, they served as the Director of Training and Education at Sarah's Inn from 2009 to 2021. In this role, they provided training and education to the Sarah's Inn community, developed and implemented various programs, and represented the agency in external meetings. Before their role as Director of Training and Education, Colleen held positions as Associate Program Director and Community Outreach and Education Manager at Sarah's Inn.

Earlier in their career, Colleen worked at Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois as Team Leader and Case Manager for the Intact Family Recovery Project from 1998 to 2008. Colleen also gained valuable experience at YWCA of Cedar Rapids and Linn County, where they held positions such as Director of Critical Services, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counselor, and Domestic Violence Shelter Program Assistant.

Overall, Colleen Sutkus has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing domestic violence issues and has extensive experience in program management, training and education, community outreach, and counseling.

Colleen Sutkus completed their high school education at Marian Catholic High School from 1984 to 1988, earning a high school diploma. Colleen then proceeded to attend Cornell College from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology. In addition to their formal education, Colleen has acquired several certifications. In November 2008, they became certified as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor and Advocate through Guardian Angel Community Services. Colleen furthered their expertise by becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional, which they obtained in March 2011 through ILLINOIS CERTIFIED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROFESSIONALS INC. In June 2011, Colleen also completed a Partner Abuse Intervention Program Facilitator certification at South Suburban Family Shelter.
