Hans Yu has a diverse work experience, with a focus on regulatory agencies and the health sector. Hans has served as the Executive Director at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency since 2018. Prior to this, they worked at Health Canada in various roles, including Director of the Bureau of Business Systems and Operations, Food Directorate, and Director of the Bioethics and Policy Integration Division. Hans also held positions at Health Canada as the Director of the Pest Management Regulatory Agency and the Associate Director of the Centre for Evaluation of Radiopharmaceuticals and Biologics. Hans has vast experience in biotechnology and science, having served as the Acting Director of Marketed Biologicals, Biotechnology & Natural Health Products Bureau, Chief of the Office of Biotechnology and Science, and Head of the Biotechnology Section. Hans began their career as a Biotechnology Officer at the CFIA in 1990.
Hans Yu received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Microbiology & Immunology from Queen's University. Hans attended Queen's University from 1982 to 1989.
