Jerry Blackwood

Executive Director, CFO Finance & Asset Management at Halifax Regional Municipality

Jerry Blackwood, CPA, CGA has extensive work experience in finance and accounting. Jerry started their career in 2003 as the Manager of Accounting at Lawtons Wholesale, where they worked until 2005. Jerry then joined the Halifax Regional Municipality in 2005 as the Manager of Revenue and Treasurer. In this role, they were responsible for leading and managing a staff of 35 and overseeing a $2.5 million operating budget. Jerry's leadership and financial expertise led to their promotion to Acting Chief Financial Officer & Director of Finance & Asset Management in 2017. Jerry provided leadership and stewardship in the provision of core services within HRM Finance & Asset Management, including accounting, payroll, procurement, and financial analysis. Currently, Jerry holds the position of Executive Director, CFO Finance & Asset Management at the Halifax Regional Municipality, where they continue to provide financial advice and guide decision-making processes for Council, Executive, and Senior Management.

Jerry Blackwood, CPA, CGA obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Economics & Business from Memorial University of Newfoundland from 1988 to 1993. Jerry then pursued their Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation from Certified General Accountants of Nova Scotia from 1998 to 2004. Jerry also holds the CPA, CGA certification from CGA-Canada.
