Filakovic's earlier work experience includes roles at TD Bank Financial Group as a Senior Project Manager, RBC Royal Bank as a Senior Project Manager overseeing Basel II projects, Manulife Financial as a Project Manager, Scotia Capital as a Project Manager in the Technology Application Group, and Canada Life as a Project Manager.

Betsa Filakovic has an extensive educational background. Betsa obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Computer Business Information Systems and a minor in Business Communications from Ryerson University between 1997 and 2001. During the same period, they also completed a Certificate in Business Computer Systems & Programming from Ryerson University.
In 1995-1997, Betsa Filakovic obtained another Certificate, this time in Business Management, from Ryerson University.
Later, from 2001 to 2003, Betsa Filakovic pursued a Masters Certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University.
In terms of additional certifications, Betsa Filakovic received a PMP Bootcamp certification from The Knowledge Academy in April 2017.
