Michael Sowell is an experienced medical professional and firefighter with a diverse background in emergency medical services and fire management. Currently serving as an instructor at Aerie Backcountry Medicine since February 2023, Michael has also been a Fireline Paramedic with Wilderness Medics Inc since June 2016, where responsibilities include providing emergency medical coverage and engaging in medical incident management on complex firegrounds. Additionally, Michael holds the position of Fireline EMT with the Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation and has experience as a Firefighter with Grayback Forestry Inc. Previous roles include EMT/Security Guard at Providence Health & Services and Tow Truck Operator at Big Ten Towing. Educational qualifications include a Paramedic Certification from the National Medical Education and Training Center and a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa.
