Ken-ichi MARUYAMA has extensive work experience in the fields of chemical biology, venture capital, and academia. From 2010 to present, they have served as the CEO and Founder of GORYO Chemical, Inc., a company that provides new fluorescent probes for cellular analysis, assay, and imaging. From 2008 to 2010, they were a Manager at Nippon Technology Venture Partners, a professional investment firm for startups venture on seed stage. During this time, they associated and invested in biotech and healthcare startup companies, such as transporters assay, proteomics, and antibody specialized startups in Japan. From 2002 to 2008, they were an Assistant Professor at Keio University, where their research focused on simultaneous combined optical and electrochemical detection for biological samples. Ken-ichi also worked on fabricating systems for scanning electrochemical and near-field optical microscopes for cancer cells.
Ken-ichi MARUYAMA received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical, Biotechnology from The University of Tokushima between 1999 and 2002. Ken-ichi then attended Keio University and received their MBA in Business Administration from 2006 to 2008.
