Mariono Martin is an undergraduate at Columbia University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry, with an expected graduation in May 2026. Currently, Mariono serves as a Summer Undergraduate Researcher in the Andolfatto Lab at Columbia University, focusing on evolutionary genetics and investigating chromosomal inversions associated with cardiotonic steroid resistance in Drosophila subobscura. Additionally, Mariono works as an Evolutionary Genetics Undergraduate Researcher, exploring factors that limit adaptation and the genetic basis of phenotypic diversity. In 2023, Mariono became a mentee in the PrIMES cohort at Weill Cornell Medicine and participates as a SHPEP intern scholar at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where responsibilities include shadowing physicians and engaging in integrated science courses. As a Committee Member of GlobeMed at Columbia University, Mariono is involved in public health outreach and education and has been recognized as a Thrive Scholars member since January 2021.
