Cayla Thompson began their work experience in 2008 as an intern and instructor at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, where they studied the genomic effects of TNT and taught a class of high school students. In 2009, they interned at the Medical College of Wisconsin, conducting research on intestinal wound repair. During this time, their work was acknowledged in a publication. From 2010 to 2017, they worked at the Medical College of Wisconsin as a postdoctoral researcher and a PhD student. In 2017, they joined FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics as a scientist, and later became a senior scientist in 2019. Additionally, they worked at Walgreens from 2004 to 2010 as a service clerk, photo specialist, and beauty advisor, and at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville from 2005 to 2010 as a student and research assistant.
Cayla Thompson completed their education history with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2017. Prior to that, they attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville from 2005 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and DNA Criminalistics. Cayla also pursued a minor in Biotechnology during their undergraduate studies.
