Senior Software Engineer at Fortis Games

Vlad Cîrstoiu has a diverse work experience in the gaming industry. Vlad started their career at FUN labs in 2011, where they served as a Game Programmer, closely collaborating with the Game Design team to implement various gameplay features. Vlad also gained experience in local multiplayer splitscreen gameplay code and integrated engine modules and features for game usage.

Vlad then took on the role of Lead Network Programmer at FUN labs, where they supervised the development efforts for network and cloud programming. Vlad worked extensively with UE4's Gameplay Framework, AWS services, and GameSparks, and added essential features like dedicated servers, cloud support, world persistence, and virtual economy to the games.

In 2016, Vlad transitioned to the role of Senior Engine Programmer, contributing to the development and maintenance of FUN labs' internal game engine. Vlad made significant modifications to the rendering subsystem, implementing single-threaded rendering for a considerable framerate increase. Vlad also worked on porting projects for the Xbox One renderer and implemented various CPU/GPU optimizations.

Additionally, Vlad occasionally took part in R&D projects at FUN labs, focusing on rendering, simulations, and CPU/GPU optimizations. Vlad developed and integrated a GPU Navier-Stokes solver for fluid simulation, which was utilized in cross-platform projects for water and wave simulation.

In 2019, Vlad joined Bandai Namco Entertainment Romania as a Lead Software Engineer and later served as a Senior Engine Programmer. In the former role, they assisted with project planning, used JIRA for progress tracking, and conducted code reviews and coaching for junior programmers. As a Senior Engine Programmer, Vlad worked on a port from 32-bit to 64-bit for a current-gen portable console, resolving memory management and compatibility issues.

Most recently, Vlad became a Senior Software Engineer at Metagame in 2020 and is currently working in the same role at Fortis Games in 2022.

Vlad Cîrstoiu attended Colegiul Național "Mihai Eminescu" Petroșani from 2003 to 2007, where they earned their High School Diploma in Mathematics and Computer Science. Vlad then pursued higher education at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest from 2007 to 2009, specializing in Automatic Control and Computers. Later, from 2012 to 2015, Vlad attended the University of Bucharest, focusing on Computer Science. No specific degree was mentioned for either university.
