Rob currently holds the position of Chief Tax Officer at Fonoa, where they work with a team of professionals to help tax and finance teams navigate global indirect tax challenges through smart tax technology. Rob collaborates with global brands and large technology companies, making their tax operations faster, more efficient, and reducing tax risk and compliance costs.
Prior to Fonoa, Rob served as the SVP Product Innovation & Tax at Fonoa, starting in August 2020 and ending in March 2022. Before that, they worked at Atlas Strategy Consulting as a Strategic Advisor from 2019 to 2021. In this role, they advised fast-growing digital economy companies on international tax matters related to global expansion.
Rob's work experience also includes a significant tenure at Uber, where they held the position of Board Member & Head of Tax EMEA. During their time at Uber from 2013 to 2019, Rob played a crucial role in the company's growth and success. Rob was responsible for tax planning, fintech and tax technology building, business model structuring, new business launches, and tax audits across multiple jurisdictions. Additionally, they served as a board member of all international legal entities and business units at Uber.
Prior to their role at Uber, Rob worked as a Freelance Tax Professional from 2012 to 2013. Rob also gained valuable experience at EY, where they worked in corporate tax from 2007 to 2012. Their earlier experience includes a role in finance/tax at DSB Bank from 2003 to 2007.

Rob van der Woude attended OSG Hoorn from 1999 to 2005. Rob then went on to study at the University of Amsterdam from 2005 to 2009, focusing on international tax law and civil law.
