Elizabeth Meyer Karansky has had a diverse and impressive career in the funeral industry. Elizabeth began their career in 2003 as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Women's Dignity Project, where they developed a fundraising campaign and raised over $30,000 for women suffering from obstetric fistula. In 2008, they were the first Family Service Liaison at Frank E. Campbell, The Funeral Chapel, where they offered clients "concierge-based" attention during the entire funeral process and followed up with a personalized "After-Care" program. In 2013, Elizabeth was the Director of Everplans.com, providing all funeral-related knowledge to the website, creating unique first-hand guides to funeral homes, cemeteries and cremation facilities, and producing and starring in videos aimed at answering all funeral-related questions. In 2015, Elizabeth was the Creator of Funeral Guru Liz, a funeral planner for those who are looking for a liaison in an unfamiliar industry. Elizabeth also published their memoir, Good Mourning, which was published by Simon & Schuster and received multiple accolades including a starred review in Publisher's Weekly. In 2019, Elizabeth became the Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Farewelling.
Elizabeth Meyer Karansky began their educational journey at The Chapin School from 1990 to 1999, followed by The Trinity School from 1999 to 2003, where they earned their High School diploma. Elizabeth then attended New York University from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained their Bachelor of Arts in Propaganda and International Policy. From 2012 to 2013, they attended Cass Business School, earning their Master of Business Administration with a Thesis on "Bringing Life to Death". Finally, they completed a Fellowship in Thanatology at the Association for Death Education and Counseling from 2013 to 2014.
