Miguel A. Manzanares

Principal Scientist at Envisagenics

Miguel A. Manzanares has a diverse work experience in various scientific and research roles. Miguel A. began their career as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Padova University, Italy, where they conducted research on the molecular biology of pancreatic development in Zebrafish. Miguel A. then worked as a Shop Assistant at MANGO before pursuing a Master's thesis at the University of Barcelona, studying the role of Caveolin-1 in colon cancer cells resistant to treatment.

Afterwards, Manzanares joined Columbia University Medical Center as a Visiting PhD Student, collaborating with Dr. Santella's laboratory during their PhD studies. Miguel A. then became a PhD Student at UAB - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where they focused on the influence of dietary lipids on breast cancer initiation.

Manzanares continued their research career as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine, contributing to biomarker studies in cancer. Miguel A. later worked as an Events Manager at Innovation Forum, organizing events and fostering innovation in various industries.

Their next role was as a Postdoctoral Fellow at New York University School of Medicine, where they worked on a multidisciplinary project focused on drug development for endometrial cancer and mesothelioma. Their responsibilities included conducting SAR studies on small molecules and performing in vitro assays to identify compounds for cell cycle arrest.

Most recently, Manzanares joined Envisagenics as a Principal Scientist, continuing their work in drug development and contributing to scientific advancements in the field.

Miguel A. Manzanares completed their education in the field of cellular biology with a focus on dietary prevention of breast cancer. Miguel A. pursued a PhD in Cellular Biology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Biomedicine from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2010. Their undergraduate studies were completed at the Universidad de Murcia, where they obtained a Licentiate degree in Biology/ Biological Sciences from 2002 to 2008.

In addition to their formal education, Miguel A. Manzanares also holds a certification as a researcher in animal experimentation, specifically under the FELASA Category C. Miguel A. obtained this certification from the University of Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya in August 2010.
