Jessica Ruggles has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Jessica began their career in 2010 as a Certified Medical Assistant at Knox Community Hospital, where they were responsible for greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining vitals, administering and logging injections, and performing ear irrigations, INRs, EKGs, HCG tests, urinalysis, and drug screens. Jessica also conducted prior authorizations for medications and procedures, maintained and stocked exam room supplies, and operated diagnostic equipment. In 2015, they began working as a Certified Medical Assistant at Avita Health System, where they were responsible for escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining vitals, chief complaint, and updating information in the EHR, assisting physicians with procedures, stocking and maintaining exam rooms, ordering supplies, and conducting prior authorizations for medications and procedures. In 2017, they took on the role of Medical Instructor at Ross Medical Education Center-Grand Rapids, where they were responsible for instructing students in the standardized Ross curriculum including medical insurance, billing, office administration, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Coding, HCPCS Coding, International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS) Coding, and properly completing UB-04 and CMS-1500 claim forms. Jessica also taught students anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Most recently, in 2021, they began working as a Patient Care Navigator at Engooden Health.

Jessica Ruggles obtained a Certificate in Medical Assisting from Everest Institute-Gahanna in 2009. Jessica then went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Interior Design from the University of Charleston between 2000 and 2004. In 2017, they obtained a Master of Arts - MA in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from the University of Phoenix. In addition, they obtained three certifications: Certified Billing and Coding Specialist from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) in 2018, BLS Provider from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association in 2017, and a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant from the National Association for Health Professionals in 2017.
