David Portney is an Ophthalmology Resident and Principal Investigator at Michigan Medicine since April 2018, leading research projects focused on various ophthalmologic topics, including surgical costs and teleophthalmology developments during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, David is a co-founder of The Lens - Ophthalmology, which publishes a weekly research newsletter for medical students, and previously co-founded and served as President of Med ECG, a pro-bono medical student consulting group. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Interdisciplinary Physics and Business Administration from the University of Michigan. David's past experiences include consulting at The Boston Consulting Group and internships in healthcare administration and research, further solidifying a diverse background within the medical and consulting fields.
