Deanna Maki

Deanna Maki has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Deanna started their career as a Grade 5 Teacher at Milk River Elementary School in 1994, where they developed a strong connection with the school and their students. Deanna then moved on to Leduc Composite High School in 1995, where they were not only responsible for teaching English and Social Studies to tenth graders but also designed a support program for students with learning disabilities.

In 1997, Deanna joined Calgary Academy as a Grade 7 Teacher in the LD program, further strengthening their experience in supporting students with learning disabilities. Deanna then transitioned into the education publishing industry, working as an Education Publishing representative for Rocky Mountain Ed Resources from 2002 to 2004. In this role, they provided curriculum resources and software to schools in Colorado while training teachers on their implementation.

Deanna's expertise in education technology led their to become the Education Technology Manager for Canadian Sales/Marketing at AutoSkill International/School Specialty from 2005 to 2010. In this capacity, they managed the sales teams, empowered independent contractors, and conducted extensive travel for product presentations, meetings, and teacher training workshops throughout the western US and Canada.

In 2009, Deanna co-founded e-Impact Consulting, a company that partners with organizations to incorporate an education lens into their operations. Deanna offered subject matter expertise in various areas, including instructional design, teacher training, special education, and online learning management systems. As the President of Educational Impact since 2010, Deanna continues to lead and provide educational services to organizations.

Deanna Maki obtained their Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Special Education from the University of Alberta, where they studied from 1990 to 1994.
