James Robinson is an accomplished bioinformatician with extensive experience in the field, currently serving as the Head of Bioinformatics at Anthony Nolan since November 1999, where responsibilities include managing the IMGT/HLA and IPD database projects and developing bioinformatics applications. In addition, James holds positions as an Honorary Lecturer at UCL and a Visiting Scientist at the European Bioinformatics Institute, starting in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Previous roles include Honorary Senior Research Associate and Honorary Research Associate at UCL, and a Visiting Scientist at EMBL-EBI, where contributions included the design and development of the IMGT/HLA Database. James has a strong academic background, holding a PhD from UCL, an MSc in Biological Computation from the University of York, and a BSc in Genetics from the University of Nottingham.
