Krystal Thomas is an experienced educator with a strong focus on science instruction and instructional coaching. Currently serving as an Instructional Coach and 7th Grade Science Teacher at the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences since August 2022, Krystal develops academic programming, provides evidence-based feedback to teachers, and collaborates on professional development. Previously, Krystal taught 7th Grade Science at Atmosphere Academy Public Charter Schools, where lessons were designed to meet Next Generation Science Standards and differentiated for diverse learning populations. As an Environmental Educator at the City Parks Foundation, Krystal implemented an environmental science curriculum and led experiential learning activities. During time at KIPP NYC as Science Department Chair, Krystal coached science teachers and maintained academic culture within the department. Krystal holds a Master of Education in Urban Education and Leadership from Relay Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Business, and Economics from Virginia State University.
