Erika Linden joined Des Moines University in 2012 as the University’s first Chief Compliance Officer. She is responsible for oversight of DMU’s comprehensive compliance program, as well as serving as DMU’s Title IX Coordinator. Ms. Linden provides leadership and support across the institution through service on the Emergency Management Advisory Team, Information Governance Leadership Group, Integrity Committee, and Clinic Committee and oversight of the University’s Enterprise Risk Management process. Her inherent preference for order, rules and structure serves her well in fulfilling these roles.
Prior to joining DMU, Ms. Linden served in a number of leadership roles over 17 years with Iowa Health Physicians and Clinics (now part of UnityPoint), including as compliance officer, privacy officer, and the director for coding, compliance and risk management. Before moving into the healthcare arena, she was the director of employee training and development for AAA-Chicago Motor Club.
Ms. Linden is a board member for the Chrysalis Foundation and served as president in 2019-2020.
She grew up in Central Iowa and earned her BA in religion and political science from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Subsequently, she earned a MA in religion from the University of Chicago and a MA in human resources management from Webster University. Ms. Linden has been certified in health care compliance (CHC) since 2003.
