Sandeep Kumar has a strong background in antibody discovery and development. Their most recent position was as the Director of Antibody Discovery & Development at DEM Biopharma, Inc., starting in July 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Antibody Discovery & Engineering at Scholar Rock. Sandeep held multiple roles at Scholar Rock, including Associate Director and Principal Scientist, from 2018 to 2022. Before joining Scholar Rock, Sandeep worked at Merrimack as a Principal Scientist in Protein Engineering from July to December 2018. Sandeep also gained extensive experience at Compugen Ltd., where they held positions ranging from Scientist I to Senior Scientist in Antibody Discovery from 2014 to 2018. Sandeep's early career included a role as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where they worked on the development of species-specific antibodies and specific antibody detection of tuberculosis biomarkers. Sandeep also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Ohio State University, focusing on computational modeling of protein-ligand interactions and structure-based design of enzyme active sites.

Sandeep Kumar pursued their education in a chronological order. Sandeep first attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur from 1998 to 2003, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemistry. Sandeep then continued their academic journey at The Ohio State University from 2003 to 2008, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biological Chemistry.
