Thomas Pye has worked in various roles and organizations throughout their career. In 2013, they started as a Research Assistant at the Cawthron Institute. Then, in 2015, they worked as a Natural Resources Group Intern at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). In 2016, they became a Policy Intern at Wildlife and Countryside Link. In 2017, they joined the Department for International Development (DFID) as a Programme Manager in the Strategy Unit. Later that year, Thomas moved to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where they held several positions including Science Advisor and Senior Policy Advisor until 2023. Currently, they are the Head of Ocean Climate & Science.
Thomas Pye completed their BSc in Environmental Science with Professional Placement Abroad from the University of Birmingham in 2015. In 2016, they obtained their MSc in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling, and Management from King's College London.
