Jason Wittenbach has held various positions in the fields of data science and machine learning over the past decade. In 2020, they became the Director of Data Science for Day Zero Diagnostics, Inc. Prior to that, they were an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University in 2019. From 2017 to 2019, they were a Senior Manager, Machine Learning and Manager, Machine Learning at Capital One, where they were the tech lead for a group of ML engineers and data scientists using machine learning to detect money laundering from multi-modal data sources. Jason also managed a team of ML researchers doing applied R&D on trustworthy ML for financial applications, with a focus on neural networks, uncertainty quantification, and interpretability. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Postdoctoral Associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. In 2016, they were a Teaching Assistant at the Computational and Cognitive Neuroscience Summer School, where they taught topics in computational neuroscience and data analysis to graduate students from around the world. From 2009 to 2014, they were a Graduate Researcher and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Penn State University, where they combined mathematical modeling, simulation, and data analysis in the lab of Dr. Dezhe Jin in the Department of Physics and the Center for Neural Engineering. Jason also taught introductory physics recitation and lab sections to undergraduates and was a teaching assistant for upper-level undergraduate physics courses.
Jason Wittenbach obtained a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame between 2004 and 2008. Jason then went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from Penn State University between 2009 and 2014.
