Jonas Schneider began their career in 2013 as a Software Engineering Intern at Stripe. In 2016, they joined OpenAI as a Tech Lead, co-founding and leading software engineering for the Robotics team. During their time at OpenAI, they advanced machine learning and AI research through software, ML, and hardware systems that learn to interact with the physical world. Their team trained a human-like robot hand to solve the Rubik's cube and manipulate objects with dexterity. This work was featured in the New York Times and IEEE Spectrum. Jonas also published several papers on the topics of multi-goal reinforcement learning, hindsight experience replay, domain randomization for transferring deep neural networks from simulation to the real world, one-shot imitation learning, transfer from simulation to real world through learning deep inverse dynamics model, and OpenAI Gym. In 2017, they became an Angel Investor at Weights & Biases. Finally, in 2019, they founded and became CEO of Daedalus.
Jonas Schneider attended the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 2012 to 2016 and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science.
