Nan Yu is a seasoned machine learning professional currently serving as a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer II at Cruise since May 2023, focusing on the exploration, prototyping, validation, and optimization of algorithms for on-road performance in production models. Previously, Nan Yu worked at TuSimple from March 2018 to May 2023 as a Machine Learning Engineer III, specializing in machine learning-related research and development for the map algorithm team. Major contributions included leveraging machine learning, computer vision, lidar point cloud analysis, and cloud computing to enhance automated HD map building pipelines. Nan Yu holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University (2016-2018) and a Bachelor of Engineering from Zhejiang University, graduating from the Chu Kochen Honors College.
