Paul Butterworth serves as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies since September 2024. Previously, Paul has held various positions at CRU since April 2012, including Research Manager for CRU Sustainability, Country Manager for Singapore, and Head of Analysis for Steel. Responsibilities encompassed managing client relationships, leading a team of analysts, and overseeing market analysis in the steel and raw materials sectors. Prior to CRU, Paul was Group Chief of Strategic Modelling at Tata Steel, Senior Manager of Strategy Development at Corus, and Manager of Technology and Environment at the International Iron & Steel Institute. Paul’s career started at British Steel as a Senior Environmental Investigator. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Theoretical Chemistry and an MBA from the University of Warwick.
