Amit Kishan Behera is a Senior Materials Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems since July 2024, specializing in the development of novel materials for fusion reactor applications. Prior to this role, Amit held various positions at QuesTek Innovations LLC, including Manager of Design group, where expertise in computational materials design, thermodynamic models, and mechanical properties measurement was leveraged across projects involving high strength steels and additive manufacturing. Amit's academic background includes a PhD in Materials Science from Northwestern University, a Master's degree from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Significant early experience includes internships at Tesla Motors, ArcelorMittal, and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, alongside research roles emphasizing microstructural characterization and phase transformations in materials. Additionally, Amit co-founded Aarambh, a student body dedicated to social change through various initiatives.
