Aram Kouyoumdjian has extensive experience in human resources and legal roles. Aram currently holds the position of Director of Human Resources at the City of Berkeley, starting in November 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the City of Los Angeles from 2016 to 2022, serving as Assistant General Manager, Personnel. In this role, they oversaw the Public Safety Bureau and the Office of Workplace Equity, managing a large budget and collaborating with various stakeholders. Before their time at the City of Los Angeles, they worked at the Office of General Counsel, Los Angeles Unified School District from 2009 to 2016, first as an Assistant General Counsel and then as an Associate General Counsel I. In these roles, they handled labor and employment law matters, including litigation and administrative hearings.
Aram Kouyoumdjian earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. Aram then went on to pursue a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in English from California State University, Northridge. Later, Aram furthered their education by obtaining a J.D. degree from the University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law, specializing in the field of Law.
