Karthik Irakam has a diverse work experience. Karthik started as an Analyst Intern at BAR Capital in 2017, where they worked until September 2017. In the same year, they also became an Investment Manager and Executive Board Member at the Yale Student Investment Group, a role they held until May 2020. Concurrently, they served as the Treasurer for the Yale International Relations Association from September 2017 to May 2020. In 2018, they worked as a Summer Researcher at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Karthik then became an Investment Fellow at The David and Lucile Packard Foundation in 2019. In 2020, Karthik worked as a Generalist Intern at The D. E. Shaw Group for two months. Currently, they are a Trader at Citadel Securities, starting in August 2021.

Karthik Irakam completed their high school education at Watchung Hills Regional High School from 2013 to 2017. Karthik then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering and Economics at Yale University from 2017 to 2021.
