Lance Maurer began their career in 1997 as a Mechanical Engineer for various companies, specializing in spacecraft and rocket applications. During this time, they developed core strengths in the areas of design, layout and machining, analysis (thermal and dynamic), test engineering through qualification, and space-grade materials applications. In 2003, they founded Cinnafilm, Inc. as its CEO and developed industry-leading, media transformation software. At Cinnafilm, Maurer and their team are dedicated to advancing image processing research.

Lance Maurer attended New Mexico State University from 1990 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
