Richard Helsby has a diverse work experience spanning several different roles and industries. Richard began their career as a Television Host for "Streetwise" and "Koinonia" on national South African television. Richard then transitioned into the field of web development, working as a Senior Internet Analyst and Technical Team Leader for Eskom. Helsby also gained experience as a Webmaster and Multimedia & Internet Developer at Tape Resources Inc. In 2000, they worked as an Internet Developer for Triptych Systems Limited in London. Helsby then joined Reelgood.tv as the Internet TV COO, overseeing daily operations, programming, and marketing. Richard later joined The Christian Broadcasting Network, where they held various roles, including Manager of Digital Media Strategy and Managing Director of Digital Media. Throughout their career, Helsby has demonstrated expertise in digital strategy formulation, implementation, and analysis, as well as web development and project management.

Richard Helsby earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand between 1992 and 1995. Richard further pursued their education at Regent University from 2001 to 2004, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Communication: Cinema-Television.
