Graduating from Vassar College in 2007, John quickly put his degree in neuroscience to work, joining the lab of Professor Rudolph Tanzi to conduct genetic research on Alzheimer’s disease at Massachusetts General Hospital. John’s next career move was to Novartis where he joined the oncology research group, identifying novel genetic targets for breast and ovarian cancer. After nearly three years of bench work, John made the switch to the business side of healthcare, working in the technology licensing office of Partners Healthcare as well as an intern for Mass Medical Angels.
This experience prompted John to found a mobile health startup, RxApps, focused on creating a longitudinal record of disease for patients living with mental illness. This team went through the Rock Health accelerator and joined the Startup Health program before putting the project on hiatus due to a number of factors (which he would be happy to discuss if you are interested).
John brings a unique background to the team, and has recently been promoted to the Vice President of Growth Strategy, where he oversees sales, new product development, team management and marketing efforts. He is also the primary liaison with all CAS clients, ensuring everyone gets the most from their subscriptions.
With a natural inquisitive nature combined with superb research and writing skills, John is a welcomed asset to Chilmark Research. And yes, he is the son of the founder.
