Alex Basman, CFA, FRM has extensive work experience in the investment management industry. Alex is currently serving as the Director of Healthcare Credit Research at Capital Four since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Allspring Global Investments as a Senior High Yield Analyst from 2021 to 2023. At Allspring, they managed bonds and leveraged loans, conducted company and industry analysis, and provided recommendations to portfolio managers.

Before joining Allspring, Alex worked at Wells Fargo for over 18 years, starting in 2003. During their time there, they held the position of Senior High Yield Credit Analyst/CLO Portfolio Manager. Alex managed a portfolio of $5.2 billion in high yield bonds and leveraged loans across various investment vehicles. Alex also monitored companies in the healthcare and chemicals sectors.

Alex's career started in 1999 at American Century Investments as a Senior Investment Analyst. In this role, they compiled performance attribution and risk exposure reports, studied performance attribution and risk management systems, and developed a system for manager selection.

In 2002, Alex worked at Aetos Capital as a Senior Investment Analyst before joining Wells Fargo.

Alex Basman, CFA, FRM has a comprehensive educational background in various fields. Alex began their academic journey by pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics at the University of Sydney from 1990 to 1994. Following this, Alex attended Stanford University in 1996 and 1997, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economic Systems.

Additionally, Alex Basman has demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning by obtaining professional certifications. In 2002, they became a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) through the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Subsequently, in 2003, Alex became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) through the CFA Institute.

Looking ahead to enhance their skills and qualifications, Alex is set to enroll in The University of Texas at Austin for a Graduate Diploma in Data Science in 2023. This program will focus on developing their expertise in data science, programming, analytics, and forecasting.
