Ian S. has diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2015, they worked as a District Office Intern for the California State Assembly and later as an Office Services Technician for the Kern County Library. In 2016, Ian transitioned to the political field, working as an Opposition Researcher for the California Democratic Party. Ian continued this role in 2017 with the Nevada State Democratic Party.
In 2018, Ian gained entrepreneurial experience by founding their own company, Hermit Communications, where they served as the Founder until October 2022. During this time, they also took on the role of Executive Director for the Income Property Association of Kern (Local Chapter of CAA) until June 2021. In July and August 2018, Ian briefly worked as a Campaign Coordinator for Melissa Hurtado's State Senate campaign.
From 2014 to 2018, Ian worked as a Marketing and Public Affairs Consultant for multiple clients as a self-employed individual.
Most recently, in June 2021, Ian started working as a Housing Services Program Manager for the Community Action Partnership of Kern. In October 2022, they transitioned to the role of Sustainable Housing Program Manager for the California Housing Partnership, where they continue to work.
Ian S. attended Centennial High School from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained their High School Diploma. After completing high school, Ian went on to study Political Science at Point Loma Nazarene University from 2006 to 2011, earning a BA degree. In 2008, they had the opportunity to participate in an international study program at Rangsit University, where they focused on Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
Additionally, Ian has acquired several certifications throughout their career. In August 2015, they obtained a Typing Speed certification with a speed of 49 words per minute from Snelling. In May 2019, they completed the Leadership Bakersfield program offered by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber. More recently, in March 2022, Ian received the Person-Centered/Data-Driven Management certification from CalCAPA, the Fair Housing Seminar certification from the Income Property Association of Kern, and the Fundamentals for Supervising Permanent Supportive Housing Teams certification from CSH, the Source for Housing Solutions.
