Elena Santana Parrilla

Community Support Worker at Calgary Alternative Support Services

Elena Santana Parrilla is an experienced community support worker and program assistant with a background in arts and social development. Currently working at Calgary Alternative Support Services and The National Access Arts Center, Elena co-facilitates the Queer Accessibility Arts Cabaret Program, helping adults with developmental disabilities realize their artistic visions. Previous roles include a community social development assistant at the United Way of Calgary and Area, where Elena supported Indigenous Strategy initiatives, and a research assistant at the University of Calgary, focusing on community care's effects on indigenous health. Elena's work is complemented by a strong educational background with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies from Concordia University, alongside studies in Psychology from McGill University.
