Carrie Schlicht has a wealth of experience in instructional design, copy editing, and teaching. In 2019, they began working as a Technical Learning Partner / Lead Instructional Designer of Development for C-Shift Consulting. In 2016, they began working for The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation as an Instructional Designer and Curriculum Writer, where they worked on several projects, including helping secure a LMS and building training materials in the platform. From 2010 to 2019, they worked as an Instructional Designer / Project Manager for Colorado State University-Global Campus, where they worked with content experts to design courses to meet specific program and course outcomes and won the Blackboard Catalyst Award for a course they developed in 2014. In 2019, they began working as an Instructional Designer for Peterson's. Carrie also worked as an English Instructor for Hibbing Community College, where they wrote the curriculum for and taught ENGL 1070 and ENGL 1090. In 2018, they began working as an Instructional Design Contractor and Writing Resource Consultant for the University of Southern California, where they led project planning and design of a student writing resource center and worked as an ID on the new program build for Hospitality and Tourism and then as an ID on course revisions in their Human Resources program. In 2016, they began working as an Instructional Designer for Beyond Campus Innovations, where they worked with a variety of clients to help them design curriculum and training materials to meet their unique needs. From 2008 to 2015, they worked as an Online Instructor, Adjunct for the University of Phoenix and the University of the Rockies, respectively, teaching introductory writing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking courses and copy and APA Editor and Quality Assurance Reviewer, respectively. In 2017, they began working as a Learning Object Developer and Copy Editor for Michigan Virtual, where they developed a series of 25 learning objects for high school students around APA citation and formatting style and assisted the curriculum team in copy editing the lecture modules for a student orientation course.
Carrie Schlicht obtained a Master of Arts in English from Bemidji State University between 2005 and 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Teaching from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA between 1998 and 2002. Carrie also holds a Minnesota 5-12 Teaching License and has obtained several certifications, including a Children's Yoga Teacher Training Workshop from The Adventures of Super Stretch, LLC in March 2019, and five Coursera certifications - Expanding SEL, SEL for Students: A Path to Social Emotional Well-Being, Teacher SEL: Programs, Possibilities, and Contexts, The Teacher's Social and Emotional Learning, and The Teacher's Social and Emotional Learning.
