Ava Goncalves has a robust background in advocacy and client services, with significant experience in roles focused on pro bono support and community engagement. Currently serving as a Senior Project Assistant in the Pro Bono Unit at Brooklyn Defenders since October 2021, Ava has held various positions within the organization, including Project Assistant and Client Services Navigator. Prior experience includes roles at Fountain House as a Supported Housing Program Assistant and at the Resource Center for Independent Living, Inc. as a Self Direction Worker. Additional experience encompasses work as a Support Professional at YAI and as a Community Organizer for the New York Public Interest Research Group. Ava holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Rights Studies from Trinity College-Hartford, where studies concentrated on prison reform and disability rights. Education was completed at W Tresper Clarke High School.
