Peter Shulman has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as a Board Member for the Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity since June 2021. Previously, Shulman was the CEO of City Teaching Alliance from April 2018 to January 2024, focusing on improving educational outcomes for children in urban schools. As Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Education from November 2011 to January 2018, Shulman influenced state education policy for approximately 1.4 million students. Earlier roles include Chief Officer for the Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Unit in Delaware, Administrative Director of Staff Recruitment for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and Co-Founder and VP of Operations at Cityfeet.com. Peter Shulman holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan.
