Rick Knowles has extensive experience in the gaming industry. Rick started their career in 2000 as an Artist/Designer and Co-founder of Sunspire Studios, where they were responsible for various tasks including modeling, animation, level design, and marketing. In 2003, they joined Pseudo Interactive Inc. as a Lead Level Designer, working on console games for Xbox360 and Playstation 3. Rick also served as a Level Designer during their time there. In 2004, Rick became an Instructor at McMaster University, teaching Continuing Education Courses in Web Design. Rick then joined Bedlam Games as a Senior Level Designer for a brief period in 2008. Later that year, they joined BioWare as a Senior Designer, where they worked on Mass Effect 2 and its DLC packs. Rick was responsible for hub creation, level layout, combat pacing, cinematic pacing, prototyping, and concept prototypes. Currently, Rick is serving as the Technical Design Director at BioWare, working on the next Dragon Age product. Their role involves designing and building tools, facilitating training, problem-solving, and establishing best practices for the design teams.
Rick Knowles completed their education at the University of Waterloo. Rick obtained a Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Mathematics/Fine Arts from 1992 to 1997. Later, they pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Computer Graphics from 1998 to 2001.
