Kyle Tipton has had an impressive career in the sciences. In 2005, they began their professional career as a Pool Service Technician at Monroe Swimming Pools & Equip. The following year, they were promoted to Pool Construction Technician. In 2006, they started their academic career as an Undergraduate Researcher at Central Michigan University, where they profiled bacterial communities from environmental soil samples. In 2009, they became a Graduate Student at East Carolina University and investigated transcriptional and translational regulation of a genetic operon. In 2015, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Emory University and discovered multiple molecular signals and mechanisms which control phenotypic variation in the antibiotic-resistant opportunistic pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii. In 2018, they were a Graduate Scholar at Bayer Crop Science and generated significant intellectual property regarding spore display in multiple gram positive bacterial genera. In 2020, they became a Senior Scientist at Talis Biomedical Corporation, where they lead a team of scientists to produce point-of-care in vitro diagnostics tests utilizing isothermal nucleic acid amplification. Currently, they are a Scientist 2 at BioConsortia, Inc.
Kyle Tipton began their educational journey in 2000 when they graduated from Jefferson High School. Kyle then attended Central Michigan University from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, General. Afterward, they furthered their education by attending East Carolina University from 2009 to 2014, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology and Immunology. In 2020, they obtained a Data Analyst in R certification from Dataquest.io.
