Jose Santaella has held various roles in the maritime industry. From 2012 to 2016, they served as a 3rd Officer at Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, where they were responsible for the upkeep of life-saving equipment, fire-fighting appliances, and maintaining a smooth and safe cargo watch on tankers. In 2018, they worked as a 2nd Officer at Empresa Naviera Elcano, S.A. for a few months. Later, they returned to Bernhard Schulte GmbH & Co. KG, where they currently hold the position of Chief Officer starting from May 2022.
Jose Santaella obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies from Universidad de Cádiz, which they attended from 2008 to 2013. In addition to their degree, they also obtained several certifications in the field. In June 2014, they received the ECDIS FURUNO FEA-2107 & FEA-2807 certification from Furuno Cyprus Ltd. Jose also earned the ECDIS NAVI SAILOR 4000 certification from Transas in the same month and year. Furthermore, in June 2014, they obtained the Watch Keeping Officer Deck certification from the Ministerio de Fomento.
