Luke Gear is a Principal Analyst for Batteries & Electric Vehicles at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence since August 2023, specializing in market and cost analysis for battery and electric vehicle raw materials. Previously, Luke served as the Principal Technology Analyst and Head of Electric Vehicle Research at IDTechEx from November 2017 to August 2023, leading research on electric vehicles and emerging technologies. Prior to that, Luke held roles at Bloomberg New Energy Finance as an Energy Storage Analyst and completed a Scientific Research Placement at the UK Atomic Energy Authority. Luke also gained experience at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence through an industrial placement focused on antenna systems. Luke holds a Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Bath, complemented by professional and research placements.
