Doug Cornelius has a diverse work experience in the legal and compliance field. Doug started their career as an associate at Goodwin Procter LLP in 1995 and worked there until 2004. During this time, they gained expertise in real estate investments through various vehicles and loans. From 2001 to 2008, they served as a Knowledge Management Attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP, where they developed tools and resources for knowledge management within the firm. Doug also held the role of Senior Real Estate Attorney at the same firm from 2004 to 2008.
In 2008, Doug joined Beacon Capital Partners as the Chief Compliance Officer. In this position, they led the compliance program and ensured post-Dodd-Frank regulatory compliance at the real estate private equity firm.
From 2020 onwards, Doug has been working as a Lecturer at Boston University School of Law, where they impart their knowledge and expertise to law students.
Doug Cornelius has a diverse educational background. Doug obtained their Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where they studied from 1992 to 1995. Prior to that, they attended Brandeis University from 1985 to 1989 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.
In addition to their academic achievements, Doug Cornelius has acquired several certifications throughout their career. Doug became a League Certified Instructor through the League of American Bicyclists in January 2022. In February 2013, they obtained the Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional® (IACCP®) certification from NRS - National Regulatory Services. Furthermore, they were admitted to the Massachusetts Bar by the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers in December 1995.
