Darrell McDonald

Head Of Business Partnering & Strategic Finance at Barnardo's

Darrell McDonald has extensive work experience in finance and commercial management roles. Darrell started their career at WHSmith, where they worked as a Trading Financial Analyst and later as a UK Reporting Analyst. Darrell then moved on to Atos Origin, where they served as a Management Accountant and later as a Business Unit Controller.

McDonald's career took another turn when they joined Virgin Mobile as a Commercial Reporting Manager. Darrell provided support to the Sales team through performance analysis and played a role in influencing customer acquisition decisions. Darrell also worked as a Senior Commercial Manager during their time at Virgin Mobile.

Afterwards, McDonald joined Nike, where they held various positions including Senior Finance Manager, Head of Commercial in Sports Marketing, and Head of Sports Marketing Operations & Strategic Planning. In these roles, they developed and implemented the Operations strategy within Sports Marketing/sponsorship, led a team, and reported to the Sports Marketing Director.

McDonald then moved on to KFC UK & Ireland, where they served as a Senior Commercial Manager. Darrell later worked at Ladbrokes Coral Group as an Interim Merger Benefit Reporting Manager. Following that, they had several contract roles at The Football Association, where they worked as a Finance Process Improvement Consultant and as an Interim Senior Finance Business Partner in various areas.

McDonald also worked at Vue Entertainment as an Interim Group Commercial Finance professional. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Business Partnering & Strategic Finance at Barnardo's, where they have been responsible for leading the strategic finance function and overseeing business partnering activities. Darrell also served as the Head of Finance for Barnardo's Trading Companies, including Retail.

- Darrell McDonald became CIMA qualified in 2006 from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

- Darrell completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance from Kingston University from 1999 to 2003.

- In 2001, they participated in a semester university exchange program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they studied Financial Management, International Politics, Money & Banking, and Spanish.

- Darrell completed their A-levels at Christ the king sixth form college before 1999.
