Abbass al Sharif

Abbass Al Sharif, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of data science and operations. Abbass is currently serving as the Director of Data Science at AXS. Prior to this, they held various positions at the University of Southern California, including Associate Professor of Data Sciences and Operations-Clinical, Academic Director of the Business Analytics Graduate Program, and Assistant Professor of Data Sciences and Operations-Clinical. At USC, they taught multiple classes, developed and taught an online analytics class, and received several teaching awards.

Dr. Al Sharif also served as the Scientific Secretary for the International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC) and as a partner in the City of Los Angeles Data Science Federation. Abbass was an Advisory Board Member at OurOffice, Inc.

Before their tenure at USC, Dr. Al Sharif worked as a Research Scientist and Graduate Instructor at Utah State University. Abbass also worked as a Research Scientist at the Center for Research on Engaging Advanced Technology for Education, focusing on enhancing technology for K-12 learners. Additionally, they were a Research Assistant at the Center for Open and Sustainable Learning, where they developed animated pedagogical agents for teaching algebra to middle school students.

Dr. Al Sharif began their research career as a Research Assistant at the Lebanese American University.

Abbass Al Sharif, PhD has a strong educational background with degrees in various fields of study. Abbass began their education at the Lebanese American University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science from 2001 to 2006. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from the same institution, which they completed from 2004 to 2006.

In 2006, Abbass Al Sharif decided to further expand their knowledge in a different field and enrolled at Utah State University. Abbass completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Instructional Technology from 2006 to 2008. This provided him with a solid foundation in using technology for educational purposes.

With a thirst for further academic advancement, Abbass Al Sharif then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematical Statistics at Utah State University. From 2008 to 2012, they dedicated their studies to this field, enhancing their expertise in statistical analysis and mathematical modeling.

To diversify their skill set, Abbass Al Sharif pursued additional certifications outside of their formal education. In 2017, they obtained a Business Essentials for Managers certificate from the University of Southern California.

Seeking a deeper understanding of Business Management, Abbass Al Sharif decided to enroll in a Continuing Education program (CEU) at the University of Southern California. From 2017 to 2018, they immersed himself in this field, acquiring knowledge and expertise in managing businesses effectively.

Through their educational journey, Abbass Al Sharif has demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and a willingness to embrace multiple areas of expertise.
