Ilya Rumyantsev

Principal Engineer at Atomera

Ilya Rumyantsev has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and research. Ilya is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Atomera since July 2021. Prior to that, they were a Principal Scientist at Rain Neuromorphics from May 2019 to January 2021, where they led the physical hardware simulation of the Memristive Nanowire Neural network (MN3) and memristor-based sparse crossbar devices.

Before their role at Rain Neuromorphics, Ilya worked at Synopsys, Inc as an R&D Engineer from December 2005 to May 2019. Ilya'sresponsibilities included developing a computational tool for statistical SPICE model extraction using TCAD generated statistical data, with a focus on device physics and optics.

Earlier in their career, Ilya was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto from August 2003 to October 2005, where they conducted research in spintronics and semiconductor optics. Ilya also worked as a Research Assistant at The University of Arizona from June 1998 to August 2003, where they focused on the interface of quantum optics and condensed matter physics.

Ilya Rumyantsev's experience spans various aspects of engineering, including hardware simulation, device physics, optics, and quantum optics.

Ilya Rumyantsev attended St. Petersburg State University from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics. Ilya then pursued further education at the same university from 1995 to 1998, earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Physics, specifically in the field of Optics. Following this, Ilya enrolled at the University of Arizona from 1998 to 2003 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Optical Sciences.
