Alex Van Hoven has diverse work experience in the aerospace industry. Starting in 2011, Alex worked as an Engineer/Technician at Active Signal Technologies, where they led a team and developed MATLAB and LabVIEW programs for data analysis and automation. In 2014, Alex joined ASRC Federal as an Operations Engineer and later became a Flight/On-Console Engineer. From 2017 to 2020, Alex worked at KBRwyle, first as a Terra Communications Engineer and then as a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer. Most recently, Alex worked at Astrobotic as a Mission Planning, Training & Simulation Engineer, where they created training programs, developed operational procedures, and coordinated mission simulations.

Alex Van Hoven obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Maryland from 2010 to 2014.
